RESEARCH CLUSTERS
As an output from each COMPOSIT workshop, issues of common interest were highlighted and future research needs were identified and prioritised. Centres of excellence that could act as focal points to address these research needs were also identified. In this way, research “clusters” were developed for each workshop theme, thus providing a roadmap for future research direction. The full details of the ten clusters can be explored by following the links below.
Cluster 01 | Repairability of Composites in Transportation.
Cluster 02 | Design & Structural Simulation of Composites in Transportation.
Cluster 03 | The Crashworthiness of Composite Transportation Structures.
Cluster 04 | Composite Manufacturing for Transport Applications.
Cluster 05: Lightweighting of Composite Structures for Transportation Systems.
Cluster 06 | Joining Technologies for Composite Transportation Structures.
Cluster 07 | Recycling of Composite Materials in Transport.
Cluster 08 | Modelling & Prediction of Composite Transport Structures.
Cluster 09 | Fire Safety of Composite Transportation Structures.
Cluster 10 | New Material Concepts for Composite Transportation Structures.
final industrial reports |
To summarise the overall findings of the project, industry specific reports were prepared for the aerospace, automotive and rail sectors. These have been collated from the combined findings of the ten clusters above.
